Learning to read

Katy has been doing great in school and is learning to read. I just finished using my nebulizer (so I can breathe better) and Katy was sitting with me. She was holding the machine when she asked, "Mommy, why does it say 'no' right here?" I looked a little confused, and then realized that she was asking about the "on" button. I had to explain that it meant "turning it on", but if you spelled it backwards, it said, "no". She got it then.

Oh how cute. It's fun when they start reading. She really seems to be catching on.

I loved teaching Lukas to read last year. It was the most fun. He was an easy kid to teach to read. Now he's sounding out words like "international" and "amphipod" on his own, and I'm feeling rather unnecessary in the reading process. LOL It is one of the most fun things I have taught to my kids!
