Memorial Day BBQ

Yesterday was Memorial Day and we had a great day. The entire morning and most of the afternoon was spent putting the house back together after painting.

Our company arrived around 4. At 3, the sky started getting quite dark. (Our plan was to have the event outside where there was more room.) By 3:45, it started to down pour. Phil ran outside to bring the patio chairs in so they would stay dry so we could use them. As our company arrived, we had to make some quick decisions as to what to do. We set up a bunch of chairs in our newly painted living room, and enjoyed chatting. Phil put the burgers on shortly after people came, and by the time supper was ready (around 5), the rain had stopped and we were able to carry chairs out and enjoy being outside. We had a great time eating, chatting, playing catch with the football, and enjoying each other's company.

After everyone except Jeremy left, I played catch with the football with him, while Phil practiced tennis with the girls. They are catching on. Jeremy (and Phil joined us later too) and I played catch for over an hour. I haven't done that in a LONG time! (Needless to say, when I awoke this morning, my entire right side of my body is sore!)

Here are a bunch of pictures from yesterday. I forgot to pull my camera out before the first people started leaving, so I don't have pictures of everyone, but...

First...pictures of the house put back together (we got lots of great comments about the paint job.)

This is the living room:

Now here are some picnic shots:

Tim and Maryann Yoder

This is Christina Yoder (a recent Messiah College Grad who was here with her parents) and Katy

This is Ezra and Molly Johnson...he is an RD in Scripture Hall. They will be leaving for another position in the near future.

This is Steve Pettis (his wife Sheila works with Phil) and Ezra.

The next pictures were quite cute (mainly because of the little girls in them...sorry Jeremy!)

Note to those of you wondering who Jeremy is:

We met Jeremy through our Star babysitter Sarah. Sarah is from Corning, NY. I've known Sarah for about 5.5 years. When we moved out here, it was quite comforting to know we knew someone who might babysit for us. She's been fantastic. As the school year ended, she had to go home. We miss her.

Jeremy is her boyfriend. We were introduced to Jeremy in January (I think). The girls really enjoy him...especially picking on him! Jeremy is staying in Marion through the summer, so we've been able to have him over a few times. (He even helped Phil paint on Saturday.)

Not Shown:
Sheila Pettis
John Huber
Dave, Ronda, Emma, and Annie Toevs
Jackie and Will Carpenter
I think I listed everyone! We had quite a crowd here!
