My day was a real frustration today. Don't get me wrong, there were good points to it, but it seems it started turning sour about 7:40 and kept going until about 6:00!
Phil had to be at work by 6 for a big conference, and I was on my own...not a big deal. About 7:40, 5 minutes before we were to leave to get to school, Phil called. "I got coffee this morning, but I forgot food. I'm really hungry. Can you bring me 3 or 4 granola bars?"
"Sure, I have to come to the gym after taking Lil to school, I'll bring it then."
"No, the show starts in 20 minutes. I need it now."
"Ok. I'll be there."
"Girls! We have to leave NOW!"
I called the school to tell them that Lilly would be late. We then jumped in the van and zipped off to Phil's work. He was supposed to give someone money to give me, and they knew nothing about it, I didn't know what to do with the food he wanted, ended up frustrating multiple people as they were trying to start the show. When I finally did get to talk to Phil (mind you he was getting a very large seminar started dressed in a nice shirt and tie, and I'm in sweats, unwashed hair, looking like a slob ready to go workout), he didn't have the $. It was in his office that is upstairs at the other end of the building. I finally said forget it and left. (I think I left the girls in the van about 20 minutes. I was so scared of getting in trouble. It was supposed to be a quick in and out.) I ran over to Phil's car so I could get an extra seat because I was going to watch a friend's daughter for awhile so she could have some time to prep her house and enjoy her birthday w/o any kids. Lilly had to take a seat to school because we carpool and it wasn't my day to drive.
We got to school, late, but still got there. I stopped at 2 garage sales on the way back to the gym and had to make a delivery to one of my hostesses in the next town over. By the time I got back to the gym, it was 9ish. I was supposed to pick my friend's daughter up at 9:45 (I had called to say I'd pick her up instead of having her dropped off.) At 9:30, I was still hurrying to finish my workout. At 9:45, we were pulling out of the gym parking lot. I called my friend and said I was on my way. I was also to have stopped at another friend's garage sale to leave a bunch of Pampered Chef catalogs, after dropping Lilly off at school, but decided to skip going back and forth any more than I had to.
I arrived to pick my friend's daughter up and headed off the other friend's garage sale to set my stuff up. I found a few things to purchase, and then we headed off to Wal-mart. I needed to pick up Katy's new medicine and a few other things. We picked up all our other products and headed over to pharmacy. They didn't have Katy in the system, so we had to give them all that info (they forgot to ask for the insurance card, so that added 10 minutes more on at the end). She told us it would take about 20 minutes and she would rush. I was not thrilled. I told her I'd come back, but knew there was no way because my day was so busy and I had to have Katy's meds. So...we waited. My friend's daughter had taken her shoes off and it was impossible to convince her to put her shoes back on. She started screaming. I picked her up, trying to talk to her and distract her. It finally worked, (never did get the shoes back on!) and we "played" in the toy section for awhile, then waited with 2 girls in the cart for another while until the medicine was finally ready.
We arrived back at our house in time to let the girls play for a little bit while I made lunch. Oh, and I forgot to mention that when I pulled into the driveway, I found that in my hurry to get out the door, I had failed to remember that Culligan was coming to switch out our iron tank. That meant we got a $3 charge for a return tank fee. I was not happy. Due to safety reasons, we can't just give them a key.
We were already pushing it to get back to my friend's house on time with her daughter and get home so Katy would get a nap. When I announced it was time to go, which was not a pretty sight either.
We got our little friend back, and came home. L rushed around the rest of the day getting ready for my show. I arrived at my show and forgot the ranch dressing, but even more importantly, I forgot the Triffle Bowl that was the display piece for my recipe. I had to have Phil come bring it to me. I guess that's one way to allow my husband to make up for feeling badly about how the morning went!
My show did go well. I got 2 bookings. I got one for June and 1 for July. By the time I got home, I was exhausted and glad that the day was over. I'd start again the next day.
