Is it possible to go to bed and erase that a day ever happened?

Today has been one of those days where you wish you could go to bed and forget that it happened. It started from the moment I got up. My alarm went off, and I just didn’t want to get up. I knew I had to or we would be late for the parenting Sunday School class we’ve been attending. Since my husband actually wanted to go, it makes me really excited. Anyway, I got up and called for the girls to come upstairs. We ended up dealing with 2 children who were throwing major tantrums. After getting that settled, I came downstairs to clean up because we were having an open house with the realty that is selling our house. When we finally got out of the house, we were almost late. We got in the van, and the van wouldn’t start. We had to take the car to church. Then, after church, we went to lunch with some friends. On the way there, I realized that we were supposed to have some people come pick up a headboard we were giving them. I didn’t have a phone number to call them, so I called my neighbor to watch for them. Apparently, the man sat here for over an hour waiting.

When we finally got home, we knew we had to call to get the car towed, but we were too tired to deal with it. So, we all laid down to rest – it was about 3 pm. We didn’t wake up until 5:40. It was about 6:30 when the tow truck came. The man ended up jumping the van (we thought the starter had died) and telling us we needed to get a new battery. We drove over to the local Auto Zone, bought a battery, and had the guy there connect it. A quick job became a very long job. The kid didn’t really know what he was doing, and couldn’t get the battery out. He tried to reconnect the battery, which started our after market alarm system going. Because of the alarm, we couldn’t jump it. We pulled the car we were borrowing over, but the battery was too hard to find. My husband sent me home to get his car so we could jump it. (Auto Zone typically has the jump technology, but it was dead.

I left with the kids. While we were waiting at the light, the oldest said, “Mommy, I think we need to pray.” She prayed and God answered. By the time we got back 15 minutes later, Phil had the van fixed. He had gotten the battery out and was able to get the alarm off. There hadn’t been enough charge to the battery get the alarm to turn off.

We came home, and my husband said to our oldest, “Who thought about praying?” She responded that it had been her idea. Then he told her that she taught him something tonight…it’s better to pray, then get mad. It was a great lesson learned.

Needless to say, there are many things that could have happened to make the day worse. I’m glad they didn’t, but I’m ready to go to bed and forget the day!

Tomorrow just has to be better!
