This is an ode to attempting to sell our house.
I wake up and I push the snooze
Oh for one more hour of sleep
But no, it can’t be choos’d
I must get up before the beep
A hot shower will be nice
I’ve got to wake up and get moving
My late night came with such a price
I’ll have to do some picking and choosing
Wake up, dear child, wake up
Grump, grump, grumble, grumble
Why must I get up?
To school you must go
No more school, she says
To school you must go to be smarter
No uniform, Mommy, she says
Yes, you must try harder
Pack the lunch to fill the hungry tummy
Make the breakfast to kick-start that brain
I’ll eat my toast that’s cold and crumby
Why can’t she just go to school without pain?
Out the door, out the door we must not be late
Hustle, hustle, hurry, hurry
We’ll be late for a very important date
I’ll push you into the van with a furry
Yeah, we made it on time.
Have a good day and I’ll see you later.
How do I make up lost time?
I’ll put that on my list for later.
Hello? You want to show the house at four?
Hurry, hurry, we have to clean.
Clean the sink, toilet, and vacuum the floor
I’d better watch it or I’ll be mean
Hello? You want to show the house at 2?
No. My child must sleep.
If I hurry through school, the day I’ll make it through
Off to nap and let me hear no peeps.
Rush, rush, mop the floor
Scurry, scurry put the clothes away
Run, run out the door
Stay away, stay away
Please house, sell
I can’t handle another showing
Another showing I hear tell
Can you hear my scream going?
Now it’s late and to bed I must go
Please sleep, come and find me
To sleep I must go
Sweet dreams must find me
Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep
No more sleep to be had
My bed I’ll freshly keep
I don’t want the house to look bad
Another day, another showing, another going
Where oh where can I go now?
Please won’t you buy my house on this showing?
My knees I humbly bow
Thank you, Lord for closing soon
A relief is had by all
Won’t you be in by noon?
What a cheer was heard by all
Note to all who dare to read this far: I do not claim to be a poet, just attempting to be inspired and ease the stress out of all that goes along with trying to sell our house. It is not sold yet. 3 people have looked, and 1 supposedly expressed interest, but we have not heard yet.
