A Day At The Lake Will Be Nice

In one of the Veggie Tales books, about counting, it talks about “A Day on the Sea”; well today has been off the charts weather and fun-wise. It started out this morning with a sail on a 24-foot sailboat out of the Watkins Glen, NY, marina. Amazingly, for Seneca Lake, there was no wind at all. We had to use the motor to get very far until right before we called it quits. Wow! It was so peaceful. I got to sit on the helm (I think that’s what it’s called) at the front all alone…no kids, no distractions except a slight breeze, ducks quacking, and the swish of the boat. It was like the peace in the midst of a storm.

Then, after leaving the marina, we stopped by Wal-Mart for a couple of things, ate lunch at Arby’s (my favorite fast food place with Jamoca shakes!!) After a scrumptious lunch, we headed back to the lake cottage and headed out for a long afternoon of fun. Phil skied, and skied, and created the Huber Acrobatic technique, and then we went tubing. I had so much fun. When I go tubing, I don’t like crazy driving. Take me in a straight line, at a medium speed, and then a couple of turns now and then. (Because of my asthma and the jarring of ribs, I can’t handle being thrown around.) Later, we took my dad out skiing. It turned out to be the perfect day out on the water. It was so calm and there wasn’t a wind, so we could enjoy it more. On Seneca Lake, it is extremely rare not to have a wind, especially for the entire day. The winds change quickly and often here.

We had Phil’s “famous” omelets, and then we took a walk down the road to a neighbor’s house to enjoy their super tree swing. When you swing on this swing, it feels as though you were going to fly out and fall into the water! It’s just a really cool feeling.

Now, it’s late and time to hit the hay. Tomorrow is supposed to be a cold and rainy day, so we’ll head home to get some projects done and hopefully be able to come back on Monday when the weather is supposed to be nice again.
