God's Hand at Work

Hello,

Since April of this year, Phil and I have been talking about and praying about a possible job change. He currently has been working at Ithaca College as their Audiovisual Coordinator for Conference and Event Services for the past 4+ years. He has reached the upper limit of growth personally and professionally in that job, with not much chance of that changing for at least 5 years. We have been looking elsewhere, and even trying to make it work in our own time. In May, we were to go out to Marion, Indiana, for a job interview at Indiana Wesleyan University, but that fell through. We waited and tried all summer to get the ball rolling on it, thinking we would be moved by the end of August. When that did not happen, we became frustrated and discouraged. One day in early August, I spent most of the day crying because it was time to give up on the dream. Soon after, Phil submitted a resume and job application to Syracuse University. He sent that on a Sunday, and by mid-week we had received a call from IWU asking if we would come out for an interview the next weekend. So, on August 25, Phil interviewed at IWU, while I visited a Christian School, had lunch with my dear friend and mentor Alan, and then went house hunting. I think I looked about about 10 houses, and the last one is the one that we decided to put in an offer on. Yesterday, our offer on that house was accepted! We are so excited. Then, last night around 9 p.m., we received that call from Mr. Greg Ferguson, who will be Phil's boss. He offered Phil the job, and Phil accepted that this morning at 9. He is the soon-to-be Technical Coordinator at the Phillippe Performing Arts Center at Indiana Wesleyan University.

We have watched God's hand every step of the way. There is NO DOUBT in our minds that this is the next step that we are to take. If we had pushed this and tried to do it in our own timing, things would not have worked out like this. God used this as a way for us to see His hand work and to glorify Himself. We are thankful for that.

There are so many emotions running through us today. We have 30 days until we pack the truck and move. There are boxes to be packed, business to be finished here, things to be set up at the new house, a business to be started up out there, plans to be made, and so much more. We definitely will be looking for help both here and there. We will need help packing, fun things for the kids to do, loading the truck, cleaning the house here after we are out, unloading the truck in Marion, getting the house there cleaned to move into, etc etc. If you would like to help, please let us know!

Our new address will be effective October 14th (tentatively - still have to work out the final details of getting into our house out there). We'll let you know as the time gets closer.

We would appreciate your prayers as we walk through the days, weeks, and months ahead. There is so much that needs to happen and will happen. The kids need your prayers too. MOST importantly is that the house here sells VERY quickly because our closing on that house is contingent on selling this house. Things here in NY take time, and we know that we serve a God who is bigger then the bureaucracy of NY state!
