Sore, Sore Muscles, and other news

Dance camp went really well today. I’m getting the hang of the routine a bit better, but I still feel lost. A friend of mine (who dances with them normally) told me how amazing it is that we learn the routine in 4 days because they take weeks to learn it when they have a new dance.

I watched Lilly today during dance (before the end when we all join together to do the Jewish dance), and she looked miserable. I wanted to go over and hug her, but I was afraid that might make it worse, so I didn’t. I just prayed for her. Later she told me she was tired and mad. One of the little girls in her class had said some things that were mean to her. Although they had worked it out, it still hurt her heart. I felt bad for her, but also proud because she was so quick to forgive the girl and move on. (If it had been her sister, she probably would have punched her!)

I thought it might have had something to do with her best friend Anna not hanging around with her as much as she might have liked, but she said it was ok. She wasn’t upset about that.

Speaking of Anna, we enjoyed a good lunch and playtime at their house after dance camp today. It was fun to catch up and just enjoy some time together. I got some baby snuggles in (I’m quite particular about which little babies I hold. I used to want to hold any baby, but now it is just certain friends babies that make my mommy-heart say, “I want to hold you.” Nothing against those other babies, just a weird thing about me. For a while it was Lydia, but then she grew up, so then it was Leah, but I haven’t held her since Christmas because her mommy scheduled vacation when she knew I was coming home because she knew she’d have to share her baby – just kidding, Laura!)

My muscles are so sore. They hurt a lot last night, but this morning when I walked the stairs, I cried out in pain. I’ve stretched and been careful to make sure I’m not being stupid, but the “up’s” on my toes and “points” hurt. My upper leg muscles aren’t bad. I’m glad I’m in such good shape from working out. My shoulder muscle that was hurting over the weekend, no longer hurts because I’ve had a chance to really use it! Amazingly, the calf muscles are really the only ones that hurt A LOT. I’m a bit sore in the hips and lower back from a few of the moves (oh, and that very high kick today was excruciating, but funny! I didn’t mean to kick quite so high, but I got a lot of height on it, and up it went!)

Last night, I spent the evening with my friend Melinda (my most faithful reader besides my parents!). Thanks, Melinda, for keeping so posted on my life that the girls don’t seem to have changed! ☺ We had a great time. Mom had made mile high strawberry dessert and Melinda brought fresh strawberries to go on top! MMM! Melinda and I talked until midnight! Oops! It was an early morning this morning and a short night! (I should be in bed like everyone else in the house!)

Phil finished painting the trim this morning. He stayed up until 1 am painting, and got up at 7 to complete it (quite a task for my husband who hates mornings). I believe he also has the base boards painted too. They should go up before we get home! It will be amazing as we have not seen the house with baseboards. It was part of our deal in getting the house that we would finish the baseboards. We hadn’t done it before because we needed warm weather to do it and because we had to figure out our colors for the rooms first. Now, it’s done!

Tomorrow night is our dance recital. I’m really nervous. I, once again, am at the back side/edge of the stage, so if I get too excited with my moves, will fall off and get hurt. I don’t like that. They do have spotters, but I can’t remember if they are at the back too.

I must head for bed. I’m really tired and need my rest for tomorrow. I’ll end up dancing for about 5 hours when all is said and done (morning, practice with the video in the afternoon to really make sure I know the dance, and then at night)

I’m also scheduled to have lunch with Char and Mary Beth. (PC friend, and PC director/recruiter) We’re meeting at Wegmans (my favorite bagel spot) for lunch. I’ll have to stop their on Sunday to pick up bagels to take home! I love their bagels! Phil will want some too (he might even like them more than Krispy Kreme donuts!)

I'm so behind. I couldn't figure out how you were going to Wegmans in Marion! ;) I get it now. You're in NY. I'm jealous. We need to make a trip there soon. I miss everyone there so much!
