A Weekend Full of Memories

On Wednesday, I had the opportunity to see my former roommate Melody (Crawford) Lewis. It was a sad occasion that she was here. Her grandfather, Ralph Coleson, passed away. I had not seen Melody for 9 years, so it was awesome to see her. Her cousin, Heather, also a former roommate, was not able to be there. I missed seeing her, but know she would have done about anything to be there if should could have.

I got to meet Elizabeth's husband Bob, and Julia's 2 kids. I hit it off immediately with Cara (sp?). Cara is 4, so I knew quite well how to carry on a conversation with her! Melody and Elizabeth were talking with others who were ahead of me in line and had not seen me there yet. They looked back and saw that Cara was deep in conversation with someone, but couldn't tell who. They both walked back and saw that it was me. They were so excited.

Melody and I had been in conversation (via email) earlier in the week, so I knew she was going to be here and had told her I planned to stop by. I had also emailed with Heather, and knew she wouldn't be there.

Here's a picture of Melody and I.

Memories Part 2

Today, I went to my old "stomping grounds." I went to the Columbia City area for a graduation party of the little sister of some friends I grew up with. I really didn't know Sarah Chamberlain who graduated, but I sure had a great time with her family. Pam (who is older than me) was home from Tennessee, so I was able to see her and meet her little 7 month old girl. (very cute too!) I also got to see Heather (a little bit younger) and meet her 3 kids.

Lilly and Katy had a fantastic time with all the kids and declared that we had to go back another time to play since they had so much fun. They loved the 5 horses, kittens (2 weeks old as I'm told) chicks, eggs, hens, cats, dog, trampoline, playset, and just having so many kids around to play with. They brushed Rose, Pam's horse that I rode way back when. (We were there between 1990 and 1993 at Cornerstone Church. I was age 14-16 while we were there - 9th grade to 11th grade.) Rose no longer has any teeth (she bites the fence and has worn them away) and has a lot less spunk then she used to, but she's still around. She seemed really good with all the kids running around.

I got to see Walter Pedigo, Sharon, Bil, & John Kessler (now a comic book store worker and computer, movie junkie), and Marilyn Middaugh too. It was neat seeing all their responses to me being there. Many of them told me I hadn't changed at all. I guess that's a good thing! Hope they can still say that 10-20 years from now!

They all enjoyed meeting the girls too.

What a fun weekend it has been. We still have a huge BBQ here on Monday to look forward to. We have a lot of people coming. We'll be celebrating the closing of our NY house, and almost closing of this house!
