Have you seen the Goodwill Commercial where the guy reads off a bunch of tags on the clothing like "Ralph Lauren, Liz Claiborne" and others. He says that he doesn't know why so many of their customers label their clothes, but he thanks each one of them. Then he goes on to say that his mom used to label his clothes, only instead of tags, she used marker.
Every time I see this commercial it makes me laugh. It takes me back to the time when my mom INSISTED that my underwear be marked. She didn't just make a tiny marking on the underwear...she marked a HUGE L on the underwear (not on the band). I was so embarrassed to wear that batch of underwear. Needless to say, she has been razed quite a bit for that. I always asked why she couldn't have taken a fine tip Sharpie and written my name on the band so no one would be able to see it, but NO, she didn't do it that way.
So, when it came time for me to mark my daughter's underwear (this was when she first started wearing un-woners), I made a small mark ON THE BAND of her underwear. She had a hard time figuring out which was the front and which was the back. The little dot on the band made all the difference. She no longer had problems putting them on, let alone on backwards.
Sorry, Mom, but there are just some things in life that are worth not replicating! So glad you don't still write on my underwear...guess I'll have to keep you away from my room next time you're here after this article!
