A taste of the lake

Each summer (since before I was born), my family has gone (with the exception of a couple years) to Seneca Lake. My dad's cousin has a lake cottage (Known to our children as "grandma's lake house"). There are so many wonderful memories there. Since we were unable to be there all weekend due to our trip, we went up today (taking a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts - my favorite treat!). We always enjoy being there. It rained until late afternoon, so our morning was spent inside, but then this afternoon we were able to go out and play in the water. We had jumping contests from the dock into the water, pretend tubing (a rope tied to a beached boat and attached to one of the tubing tubes), and then my husband went for real tubing. He loves it when it is a bit rough and he can bounce like crazy and even flip off. I do not prefer that.

Last year we took the girls tubing and ended up having them both flip off at different times and totally freaked out. This year we aren't letting the tube the real way.

We enjoyed a leisurely day, and then left for home around 7. On the way home, 3 deer ran out in the road and were running down the road in front of us before heading off into the woods. A few minutes later, we had to slam on the brakes for another couple of deer.

We plan to go back next weekend, and maybe even get a chance to ride in a big sail boat (the kind that is big enough to live in). We hope to tube, and my husband wants to ski. I don't ski because of having knee problems. After surgery a couple years ago on my right knee, I try to be extra careful.
Tomorrow seems to hold a somewhat calm day. I'll finish laundry, work on invitations for my job, and see what else I can do. I have lesson plans to work on for school, and need to continue the process of sorting and cleaning through all our stuff. I'm looking forward to a bit of sleep hopefully too!
